Lines at the elevator typically aren’t a problem. It was a problem for two days this year. That’s it. I’m actually on the board at our local coop. They are pumping the infrastructure up to handle wet, big crops. I would say 60-75% of the farms don’t have any sort of storage around here. With an end user of corn close that can handle bushels, I’m just trying to figure payback to store it/dry myself. There is supposed to be a soybean plant of some sort being built about 50 miles from me. Not sure if that will be worth having bins to deliver to them later in the year or what that will look like.
On farm drying and storage is right up there with tile and a sprayer especially for a young person starting out. The elevator shrink is a huge cash cow for them. Made a lot of $ with a dryer and storage starting out. Good luck go for it if possible.
