Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) - AGA GI Patient Center
C. diff (Clostridioides difficile) is a bacteria that causes diarrhea and colitis (colon inflammation), often triggered by antibiotic use which disrupts gut bacteria, leading to overgrowth and toxin release, with symptoms like watery diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain, spread by touching contaminated surfaces or people, especially in healthcare settings, requiring treatment with specific antibiotics or FMT for recurrent cases.
