The fact that you are asking how important it is makes me think that you aren't getting screwed over waiting in line, or waiting on a slow place to unload. Here if you hauled everything to sell I don't see some years how you would ever get done combining. Long lines, slow unloading, places always having to shut down during harvest to fix something.
If you have been doing ok delivering to an e plant I would keep doing that. Forward contracting will be your friend, I would get educated on that if I was you. But based on what you said, I don't see the need for a giant elaborate setup like some on here have. I would put one or 2 good sized bins up though. So that you could have someplace to dump if you can harvest and don't have manpower to truck it or want to run when someplace isn't open. Even one 20-30k bin, you could put beans in and then empty it and put corn in. Just as a buffer. But only you know how well you are at contracting and what your help/trucking situation will be.
