Western OK
The way I do crop budgets with my simple mind is charge myself custom rates for every field operation.

Rent+tillage and or spray apps+planting+seed+fertilizer+chemicals+harvest=cost

Then

Reasonable expected yieldĂ—Reasonable expected price - cost = ?????

If I break even, at least I bought myself a job.... by using custom rates you should get close to true cost, repairs/fuel/labor/depreciation etc....

I'm sure by doing it ourselves with our older equipment most of the time we are well bellow custom rate cost, but by doing it this way you can somewhat plan for the unexpected costs..
