NC ND | I see no reason not to have the kids there, but think of who is going to be watching them and how emotional the other members
of the family are. Some people have a hard enough caring for themselves at a funeral without dealing with a kids normal
issues or one upset by seeing everyone else upset. My son went to his first funeral at 1, just old enough to be upset by others and I
ended up with him in the back so as not be a distraction .
At 2
grandmas insisted on him attending another family funeral, he wasn't interested and I ended up outside with him so as to not bother
the rest of the family. At 4 he behaved fine, he got a pretty good jumpstart on understanding death though when his pony wouldn't
get up and he helped grandpa pull it out to the field and dig a hole. Makes an interesting conversation in a quiet church when a kid
asks questions relating to his experience (burying his pony) and the person in a casket, some within earshot didn't appreciate this,
but a kid only learns what they are taught so what are you gonna do?
