Depends on what type of surgery you get. I had the kind where I went in as an out patient, doc did his thing, and it was over in ten minutes. Something about the doctor just went in my wrist and cut a muscle or something which opened up the passage or whatever it does. I had immediate relief but I still think that my hand doesn't have the squeezing strength that it used to. One stich later and I was back driving a semi in a few hours... wasn't supposed to and not recommended by the doctor but it was in the middle of harvest season and the surgery didn't seem to bother me at all. Individual results may vary.
