Maybe the 4038 booms are mor prone to rust than the old black steel booms were, I don't know for sure.
I am quite sure that roundup/ams is no where near as corrosive as liquid fertilizer...not even in the same universe.
Just traded our 12 year old 4830 for a 4 year old R4038, and have seen no appreciable rust on either one, and they both sprayed roundup all season long every year for its life. Ours sprayed 28% N on 1200 acres corn every year for the last 6-8 years.
One key for prevention is rinsing off every night.
