Looking at a ground drive Deere 1790 16/32 split planter with Pro shaft unit drives. Will be specifically used as a bean planter and I'd like to have the option to variable rate plant with it. Planning on using an Ag Leader in Command as planter monitor and if we go variable will be used to drive that. On a prior planter I had a precision plant hydraulic motor for VRT.
My question is--will one motor work to drive the entire setup? There wont be any shutoffs on this planter---it does have half width disconnect. Can the hydraulic motor be mounted to drive transmission and still use half width disconnect? Are there many used hydraulic motors out there now that everyone is moving to electric.
Technically you can mount a hyd drive anywhere you want, so IF you could drive it all with one motor then your shut offs would work. I have never seen a planter of that size run with one motor tho, maybe they exist, but have never seen one. If you could keep the motor drives inside of the clutches then you could still utilize them it you have to go to two drives.
I just happen to have a couple drives and must not be too far from you as you list central iowa. Also have a new ag leader hyd drive module. I went electric instead and haven’t taken the time to advertise them yet. Usually you see them start to show up after the first of the year. |
