Yes we are incentivized to produce the most on the least amount of cost. The guys that mine the soil out, let it degrade, yes that hurts everyone but my point was I’m pretty sure 99% of folks are incentivized to do right by the soil. If that means covers, no till, organic, regenerative ag practices they are actively doing it all ready.. healthy soil that’s been taken care of will out yield rundown soil… to my point you can’t starve a profit out of a cow and you can’t starve the profit out of the soil.
Most of us in agriculture are in the business of growing the operations to hand to the next generation… you can’t do that by ruining the soil you need to take care of it which some do differently and maybe to different degrees.
There will always be bad apples you can’t get around that but the government money needs to stop.
I’ll add one more thing… to the guys mining the soil now getting what was it $35 to fling a little rye seed to get that payment.. is that truly helping?? We both know that’s not gonna fix the problem. You can’t throw money at a solution without addressing the problem first
