mercer county, il
All we grow is non gmo corn.

Only time I had an issue was when we tried it on old bottom ground that had been reed canary grass for years, although it flooded so I never got to see how it actually worked out.

It takes more management, but other than that, I’ve never seen a field where I would not grow it. Personally, the only thing that would hold me back is if I hired spraying done, that would scare me.

Weed control isn’t a big issue, just use a solid 2 pass program. We generally chase the planter with the sprayer, and try not to get too far out ahead. And post spray early, so if you do come upon any issues, it’s not a train wreck.

As far as insects, we’ve done a bit of everything, liquid in furrow, nothing, dry n furrow and t band. Insecticide generally pays for itself in the side by sides I’ve done, and if it’s corn on corn, insecticide is pretty much imperative.

So in my opinion, if you can manage it, just do it.
