On the directions when I installed mine it doesn’t say to put b pipe on. It says category 3 stainless with a wall thimble. The thimble keeps it more than a 1” from combustibles. I did push my insulation back about 6-8” to be safe. Taking temp readings in the steel and stuff around it it’s only 80ish degrees. So unless the directions are wrong nowhere in there it says to put b pipe in.
