Lot of my welding is done with a wire welder. I have three different rolls of wire that I use. Two rolls are solid mig wire ER70S-6 one is .0245 and the other is .035. The .0245 is used for all the supper then stuff. The max the chart for my welder shower for it is 1/8 but a rarely go even that big. The .035 I used from 1/8 to 1/4. For 1/4 and thicker I have dual shield. Dual shield runs extremely hot and is very similar to 7018 rod if you like welding with that. It is much harder to get a cold weld with and is more forgiving if the metal isn't perfectly clean . I use co2 for everything but If I could find another gas bottle I would probably have a blend around too. I would go with a 250 series machine or maybe larger.
