Subject: Re: Question about kids attending funerals

SW Indiana
We had both of my grandma's pass within 3 months this winter. Our kids are 13, 9, 5 and we struggled with the decision. You have to do what you think is right for you and your children. Each child will be different. This was our kids first time to deal with this and here is what happened to our children. 13 year old son had a flood of teenage emotion that took him by supprise, he is not normally emotional so we think that is a tough age. 9 year old son we took to one, not the other. He is more emotional. Our 5 year old daugter went to one only. During the visitation she kept having me take her to the casket to see if great grandma was waking up. She has been having some bad dreams for a few weeks but is fine now.

Each child, parent, and relationship is different. There is no right or easy answer. Sorry for your loss and hope this helps.
