If you want to get newer with a gas, get into a Ford with a 6.2 if you're a Ford guy, or a GM product with a 6.0. Those engines are both reliable, and they have functioning brakes. Coming from someone who worked on old cars and trucks "back in the day" the amount of work and maintenance on these newer vehicles is practically nothing compared to vehicles in the 50's and 60's and 70's.
