Walla Walla, WA | I agree with Junk Fun but want to add some additional info. If you find a used Miller 250 2 knob welder be advised that at higher power settings they do not produce repeatable welds. Skip welding on 3/8 material you never knew if the weld would be too hot or too cool. We built 100s of JD concaves in my shop using 3/8 material with dual shield .045 wire. We finally had our Miller rep admit to this flaw. We got a Miller 252 (I think) and never had another issue with the weld quality. Don't be afraid of flux core or dual shield wire. Set up properly it will run just fine. We always used Tweco hose and guns. The statement that "anyone can weld with a wire welder" is a false statement. Might lay a smooth bead but is it welded!!!
