dt4020 - 12/10/2025 06:46 Agree above about a stick welder for less than ideal conditions. There are some interesting options on rods out there as well. For wire feed I'm a miller guy. FB marketplace or ebay is your friend. When looking, bring someone to inspect and run it. Should be able to get a good 200 (215 now, 4k new) miller which will do 90% of what a 250 will do for under 1500. I would look at a brand new 142 if you don't plant on any heavy welding, same price range. Have a Vintage we run at least once a week and they should be in that range as well. Getting some age on it obviously, but tt is a much easier unit to keep running and do a good job with than our 250. No idea why. Forums say it has a softer arc. If you are going to be welding every week more $ would be warranted.

Not sure where you are finding a 215 that is $4000 unless you are tacking on every accessory for multiprocess; most places around here you can get the 215 in the $22-2400 range.  You can get a 215 delivered to your door from the Miller store on Amazon for $2348.

The 142s you mention MSRP at $1112.00.  Miller has an $800 rebate right now on the 211 MIG that MSRPs at $1975 MSRP, should be able to get under $1200 after rebate.  I would lean toward the 211 over the 142.

Just looked on FB Market Place and the only Miller 200 locally they are asking $2500 and there is a 250 asking $2750. Market must be a lot softer in your area.
