Central ND | "ITS a horse a piece".......You will like a wire feed for convenience and speed and handiness. I think it makes a LOT less smoke in a shop too.. ......I have not hardly used my stick welder since about the year 2000 when I got the wire Miller Matic 250 wire feeder. Just a simple 2 dial machine for voltage and wire speed. I Prefer IT over the computerized screen machines with all their fancy settings and computer boards. I run .035 diameter wire in a Miller gun with 75/25 gas. (Co2/argon mix)for most any projects. There is nothing wrong with stick welding. MUCH of outside building jobs and pipelines and towers are pout together with stick welders.MY thoughts are if it is windy outside "I should" use my stick welder. The welding gas blows away on windy days making for porous welds.. If its a really heavy iron to weld together,I will also grab a stick welder and a hand full of rods. | |
