I have a 1999 Massey 8270 with the Valmet 8.4 L engine in it that is leaking almost like a black tar out between the head and the exhaust manifold. This tractor smokes quite bad on startup but runs relatively smoke free after it is warmed up. I’m looking for suggestions on what this problem may be from and what my next step should be. Thanks.

The other posters gave you some good ideas.

Here's what I would do if a customer brought it to me. I would work the DOG $*** out of it, and block the radiator to get it up as close as I felt comfortable to the red part of the temperature gauge, then remove the block and cool it down. Repeat about 4-6 times, and then see what it does.

Never let an engine idle, get it running, get the oil pressure up, and then run it up about 1500RPM to try and keep heat in it.
