I'm in the market for a different truck to replace a 2003 FLD 112 with a C12 and a 10 speed. I've had numerous people tell me to look at Freightliner Cascadias with at Detroit engine and D12 transmission......this goes against everything I said I'd get in the past but I'm willing to listen. It won't be truck #1 on the farm but I need it to be reliable for 25 mile one way trips to the ethanol plants. A good friend is running one with a 450 hp DD15 and the DT12 with a 3.08 rear end. He loves it and it will out pull his 515 hp 12.7/10 speed. DD13 trucks are much easier to find. When HP is set the same are they comparable or does the DD15 have higher torque settings at the same HP?
My searches also tend to keep gravitating towards Kenworth T680/880 trucks. My main truck is a 2014 T680 with 500/1850 ISX15 and a 10 speed. It has treated well and I wouldn't mind a second one but finding one with a Cummins is getting out of my price range. It also seems the DT12 is preferred over the Endurant.
I'd really like to keep this purchase in the low $40k range. |
