NC KS | Retired the stick welder 40 years ago. I have 2 migs. One is Hobart 210 that now has flux core wide in it for windy welding. Switch the wire, drive rolls and change a lead, turn on gas and you can weld without flux core. Works good up to 3/8" thickness. Can weld thicker but takes more passes.
Hobart Ironman 240 (my other one) can weld about any thickness found on most farms. Both have setting guides on the welder for different wire sizes and thickness of metal. That gives you a starting point.
I ran a Millermatic 200 for 30+ years and welded everything with it. Like the Hobart 210, it is a little light for 1/2" and up steel but it will work. | |
