 NW Iowa | I've used a wire welder the last 30 yrs.
Started in high school, then built Wetherell cultivators.
There is nothing i haven't been able to weld.
I've welded in the wind, just turn the gas clear up and shield it some.
Welded cast standards on a disk no problems.
Sheet metal to 1" thick.
I started on dad's stick welder and in shop class,
once i touched a mig i never looked back.
If you are in a unheated building buy the copper coat wire.
If running straight steel put a clothesline pin with a cotton ball
in front of the rollers.
Edit- Go spend the money on the newer clear view helmets
They are worth every penny. Throw the old green ones away....
