South Central MN | Have had a mixed flow Sukup with suction cooling for two years now.Started the buying process thinking I wanted to keep dumping hot like I had done for 35 years.,But after I had it explained to me that a lot of what was gained by dumping hot is now gained by the suction cooling and the fact that the corn stays in the dryer so much longer with a mixed flow dryer. Also higher bushel output into bigger bins also is a reason to want to cool it at least a little. You can adjust output temp by letting some outside air mix with the suction air. I never had any major issues with dumping hot but it made me nervous seeing it raining in the bin when drying in cold weather.FYI I am running a 1609 and the first two years here haven’t really put it thru too many paces as we have started with 18% corn and gone down quickly from there. The screens on the bottom don’t plug at all because there is no moisture on the screens to make anything stick. I have cleaned out about a loader bucket of fines from the suction plenum each year at the end of the season.
