Are you more profitable with increased time, equipment, crop damage, labor, tissue samples etc? It’s pretty dang cheap to buy bulk fertilizer, load with a junk auger, and use an old spreader to spread it and then make one pass of .7 pounds of N per bushel yield goal of NH3 in the spring. We tried the split applied in season N back 10 years or so. Never could make it profitable on our farm, just added extra work in the summer and additional passes across the field
Me vs me, absolutely no way of going back.
It's in the budget, if it wouldn't pay I wouldn't do it.
instead of simply buying cheap bulk fertilizer I can use some of them dollars to pay for the pass.
1 foliar pass added.
Drone pass I don't have to be there.
Adding K to the sprayer when doing herbicide is easy.
Fall NH3 isn't a thing here.
Low OM soils in a tough climate has made management really work.
There is a reason not many people run over each other to bid up land here.
