We went through the same, see post above.
On ours the notifications covered the right side of the screen. No scrolling up or down or closing a page.
We have never had MacAfee.
Pop up blocker did nothing either.
The cure, as it turned out was to simply delete history back to when the problem started. The wife deleted all our history just to be sure.
