I've had both McAfee and Norton over the years, though it's been years. I actually liked Norton until about fifteen years ago, when it began to get too intrusive and started demanding a lot of resources. It would slow an older machine.
Windows Defender/Security, along with Malwarebytes, should get you very good protection.
