West Kentucky | We used to try and cut seed beans a little wetter. We would cut them at 15+, put them in the bin and not shut off fan until they were either hauled off or the top tested within the range of moisture we wanted. The top is generally the last to dry. Unfortunately, soybeans often times dry down unevenly in this area because they die instead of maturing. This year we were cutting 8-9% beans and walking green pods out the back at the same time. It is much easier under normal growing conditions when they actually mature properly. If you are dealing with wildlife pressure, it makes even more difficult. Fungicide can make a difference, but not nearly as much as the other issues.
