Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I use old Phones and tablets (both IOS and Android) that I no longer use for other purposes with an App called Alfred. Maybe not ideal but a good use for old phones and tablets. The phones and tablets do need to have Wi-Fi capability. I have two in my home where they communicate with WiFi in my house. The phones and tablets that are setup as cameras and can alert me when they notice "action". I can playback events from the past or view live action on another phone or tablet setup as a viewer. I have one pointed out my back window into my dooryard and another pointed at a thermometer in my office. If I'm away, I can check on them with any of my "viewers" which are other tablets or phones that contain the Alfred App set to viewer. They do need Internet access.
The App has a free and a paid version. They now have a fancier version for more money. Check it out if you have outdated tablets or phones in a drawer. Alfred might fit your situation.
