For at least the last 10 years, maybe more, it hasn't benefited anyone to keep cash around. Inflation has made it more beneficial to have physical items. So.people spend money and goods get more expensive.
And there in lies the problem. We are no longer a society of savers and living with simple means. We are a society of spenders and living in excess.
