I cleaned up about 5 acres this fall with skid steer and tree puller, mostly overgrown autumn olive but some oak and mixed hardwoods. I then disk a few times and looks good now. Had planned to put rye on it but didn't get it done. May sow red clover this winter as I don't plan to crop it until I get the brush piles burned and cleaned up.
It goes fast with a skid steer and with the price of tires I didn't want to chance ruining one (or more) BTW those old CRP fields are rough so I think disking smooths it out plus you can disk out the small trees under 1".
