You put into words what I have been thinking for the past few years. Cost of machinery whether new or used is out of line.
When I started farming 30-40 years ago I did quite a bit of custom farming. I could buy a new machine and pay for it within a year or two and still have a good machine left. Now, by the time you pay for a new machine it’s wore out or going to need a lot of costly repairs.
I went through that in the round baler world. I'd trade them in right before 10k bales. First started out trading in for $1 a bale. Then transitioned about 50 cents up each trade in. The last time they wanted $4 a bale.........and so I jumped off the train and just said no. |
