East Arkansas | Reading through the responses I Hear a lot of myself in others thoughts on running older equipment for cost, reliability, etc.
I am disturbed to hear how it is almost impossible for a farmer with even large acres to economically run new equipment. I’ve always thought that new equipment should be priced so that a fully efficient large farmer operating it to max capacity could “Pay” for it through the farm operation and if a guy was a good mechanic and could run older stuff he could reap the rewards.
This business is farther from being able to support new equipment than I’ve ever seen it. I know we shouldn’t expect good times forever, tighten your belt, blah blah.
I said all this to say I guess I’m questioning the long term viability of this business model… | |
