500 could indeed be a full time job.
Farm it with a 560 or M. Combine it with a Massey 750. Cultivate and rotary hoe. Haul it to town in a 100 bushel wagon.
Look for parts equipment and fix stiff in the off time.
Raise a few sows and calves for freezer beef.
It used to take at least all one man could do and I bet it still is if done the old way.
I am not sure if one could make a good living, but one would have all they could get done.
The problem is the land cost. That program works for sure with paid for land.
Land payments or cash rent and suddenly one is out of money.
