Subject: RE: Split nitrogen application

Holland, Indiana (SW IN)
Short answer “it depends”
Not trying to be a smart Azz

Weather, soil types, drainage, planting date, and everything else is the “depends”

I think the safest no matter what happens is to split apply
N 3 or 4X

But some years 1 application before planting will give up no or very little yield

Costs extra money to split apply N

FWIW we apply 60# with the planter then about 4 leaves the majority then at knee high+ another 30+ pounds

Since you brought up a V 10 application with a high clearance sprayer and mounted tool bar seems many think that is a good idea for a year or two anything with coulters is a PIA applying high clearance PiA
