You can make a good living on 500 acres with everything paid for.



for sure, but it takes many years to get there, and one could just rent it to the 5000 acre guy so there's opportunity costs. I still think much of the economies of scale are lost in machinery, land costs and operating interest, plus the ones depended on outside source's for repairs lose even more.
