 East of Broken Bow | Had similar issues as you, and wound up buying a ratcheting breaker bar. This allowed me to turn the crowfoot to the angle I needed.
Still a pain as it will ratchet sometimes when you don't want it to, but as you said, sometimes it's the difference between getting it or not getting it.
A ratcheting breaker bar has a smaller 'head' than a normal ratchet, and the head swivels on the handle like a normal breaker bar, so it works better than a ratchet, even a flex-head ratchet.
On the same note, if someone were to come up with a breaker bar that had the square that drives the sockets turned just a little, it would help, as well. One could turn the fitting a bit, 'flip' it, and turn it a bit more. Then you could use whatever crowfoots you wanted. | |
