Franklinton, LA | If you have the correct voltage and amps, you should be able to rip a 1" oak board with a 1 1/2 HP table saw. I have easily ripped a lot of 1" hickory and 1 1/2" oak boards with my 1 1/2 HP, 110-volt table saw.
You might want to check voltage and amps while actually ripping a 1" oak board. Before checking this, I would check to be certain the rip fence is parallel to the saw blade. I assume you have the proper size belt and it is in good condition, the pulleys are properly aliened and in good condition and the belt is properly tensioned. Also, have the blades been recently sharpened? I like to extend the blade life by brushing each side of the board to get rid of the sawdust, dirt, dust and grit.
I prefer a 40-tooth, 10" blade over a 24-tooth. On my table saw the 40-tooth blade will cut faster and give a smoother cut.
