Not uncommon for my pickup to have 450 degree egt at idle after towing and takes a few minutes to cool to ~300 Turning the engine off at those high >400 temps absolutely will kill the bearings in the turbo.
if auto stop/start isn’t looking at exhaust temp on a diesel it’s going to eat turbos. Easier to just let the engine run and cool down properly.
