How are you trying to fold the tips in?  You have your auto fold button and then you should have a button for the left wing to it's left and the right wing to its right.  My 4430 is a 120' boom.  If I press and hold either left or right button once it will fold the very outer section.  I then have to release it and press/hold an second time to fold to the 60' setting.
