Meadow, TX | I have a 1688 combine. Just added up the parts that I bought this year and I am getting to the end of its productive life. Going to have to keep going one to two more years but starting look at what my next combine should be.
Wheat, sunflowers, milo and edible beans are my main crops.
Low yields in my area unless someone has really good irrigation. 20-40 bu wheat most of the time. I do not think that I really have a need for a bigger capacity combine even if I go to a bigger header.
First question, I would like to move up to a 40' draper header at some point. what Case model would I need to move up to to handle lifting a 40' header and be able to unload?
Second question, I do some custom harvesting on organic wheat. Guy had to abandon a field because he did not call me in time and it grew up in weeds. I have a pickup header for edible beans. I could have had some more work if I had the ability to swath and then pick it up after the weeds dried. Can the rotor and sieves be turned off to reduce wear and tear while swathing? Take the belts off? On ones with hydraulic rotor drives, is there a way to turn them off? Is there a particular Case model that would make sense to upgrade to make swathing easier? | |
