Unionville, TN | I went to look at buying a JD 7400 with a power quad transmission mfwd and loader. Tractor has been used very little over the last 20 years and tach shows 3900 hours . Everything about the tractor is sweet and works perfectly except the reverse gears. It was hard to find 3rd reverse in any range and after the test drive I noticed that I could not stall the engine with the brakes in reverse. It would "slip the clutch" pretty easily all reverse gears but especially 3rd. Trans would not slip in any forward gear or range. Is this likely a big fix like transmission rebuild or is it possible that a fluid and filter change and some sort of pressure switch might fix the problem?
