1 thing that HF does that virtually no other store does - their employees actually ASK IF YOU NEED HELP, I have never been in one that I didn't get asked that at least twice, while wondering around.
I've noticed this too, that HF employees know their stuff. It seems like everyone in the store can point you right to the aisle you need for a specific tool. Good luck even finding an employee around the tool section at all in the big box stores! HF has made it relatively painless to get in, get what you need, and get out quick. Their website matches the store inventory very well, so it's easy to see if they have something before going.
With HF's focus on becoming a complete well-rounded tool store, and their attempt to distance themselves from that 'throwaway-tool' past, I'm a little surprised they haven't rebranded their stores into something classier yet.
