IA/MN/WI | We've been skipping dry fert on bean acres for a number of years and switched to different management strategies. I run some ATS out the back of the planter(surface dribble) with some other components, an enzyme&chelated zinc product, and a bio stimulant. If the K levels are total garbage I run 2 gallons of K-ace with the ATS. We also adopted using a talc/graphite replacement product that has a heavy dose of inoculant in it along with a bio fungicide that has performed extremely well on SDS and early dampening off, and a lot of Moly, Iron, Manganese, and Zinc.
I will run a foliar product with my herbicide, and then might do another pass or two in July/August if the crop shows promise, if we are dry late I don't spend the money.
Total program is $35-60 depending on if I run the K-ace on the planter or not, and whether I make the late foliar passes. Soy averages on 6500 acres this year were 76bpa. I had limited issues with drown-outs but was definitely over-saturated.
I do try to run a late insecticide pass and the product I use is a premix of Bifen with a little Strobi fungicide. Cost is about $6 per acre. | |
