| I was on a panel a year ago about the future of ag for our local community College. We spent a lot of time talking about the K shaped economy and how ag was going down the same road.
I'm not sure there's enough market for the majority on farmers markets but the ability to shop online and shrink the world has made a huge difference. I love the idea of a drop shipped half a steer to anywhere in the US from a local farm. Stuff like that.
I'll also say there's a guy at our local farmers market that is grinding to try to get a small sustainable farm off the ground and he told me this summer (year 3) that he'll never come out even let alone ahead, but his wife is a doctor and she is on board so he'll keep grinding. | |
