I don't understand the one big sink either. I wash dishes on one side and rinse in the other side. Even if we had a dishwasher (we did, but I had it removed many years ago), I would want a double kitchen sink. We've had the same stainless steel sink since 1981 and it hasn't scratched yet, but maybe the newer ones aren't as durable.
