ecmn | I would strip behind full tillage for the efficiency/ placement of fertilizer if I had to.
Did several years of strip till/ no till full tillage trials, along with many different fertility trials.
I used to do a lot of custom combining so that also made a great comparison.
The problem is when somebody says I'm going to try this. You've been fine-tuning your system for how many years to make it the best it can be and then you're going to just try this other system once and see if it can yield as good as a system. You've been perfecting your whole life.
The other part is no till is very different. If all you're doing is removing the tillage then you're going to have the problems of why you did the tillage in the first place.
When you do tillage you introduce oxygen. You get a flush of nutrients so even in season if you fertilize a tillage pass and no till the same they did not get the same fertility. | |
