Hennepin, IL | +1. Plus the fact the cheapest way to get something stronger like yellow pine would be as treated which would be a no-no bolted to steel. I guess it could be done, but could end up corroding the steel. A good lumberyard might be able to get you untreated yellow pine which would be ideal, but Ive been out of the construction world so long idk if thats doable and if it is, is it cost effective. I do know your plain old SPF I would not trust even doubled up 2x12s for that kind of weight. | |
