Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | Mark (EC,IN ) - 12/4/2025 12:47 billybob - 12/4/2025 07:52 I am 72 and my wife is a little younger. Both in good health. Other family members are finally stepping up to help take care of my father-in-law.
Normally we have done a 10 day -2 week vacation once a year by car and stay in nicer motels. I try and spend several nights in one nice motel at our destination and then of course 3-4 nights in others getting there and back.
It does get a bit old having to check in every night. Then there is the eating of take out or dine in food every day. We can usually eat right most of the time.
It got me thinking about renting a large RV for a month or so before I would buy one. I was planning on towing a car also.
With how crazy the world is now will the RV travel be hassel ? Will I have to plan my trip with RV reservations for each night/nights ?
What are some of the down falls that I don't yet know from you expericed RVers ?
I had a friend who considered buying an RV for many of the reasons you have listed. His "RV Dream" ended when his wife reminded him that she did not have to clean the room at a Holiday Inn.
There's my sister in spirit!!! Yes! I will gladly give up the "home" cooked meals and "my own bed" to leave behind the cleaning, dishwashing, laundry, making up beds, vacuuming, grocery store runs.... etc. I know many disagree, and that's what makes the world go round, but I can sure rationalize my viewpoint easily! ;^) |
