Subject: Re: Question about kids attending funerals

High Springs, Florida
I went to my first funeral at around 5 years old. It was a woman who was a friend of my aunt. I can still remember it, to this day. I was not traumatized at all.

JohnW, not to be disrespectful to you, but what is so hard about understanding death? I understood it at 5, just fine. When I was 8, my grandfather dropped dead right in front of me. When my mother told me "Don't worry, he will be just fine" I knew she was BS'ing me.

I think children are much smarter and understanding than a lot of folks give them credit for.
