I'll start by saying I dont know **** about a grain dryer. I found a 420j with calcudri close by. Im not even sure if these are good but its in my price range and setup for single phase and propane. My bin setup isn't the best. I have an 18 foot with a floor and sweep ( no fan) I use for seed wheat and a 48 foot 10 ring at the house. I'd love a drier for wheat harvest so I can get started and done faster.... because rain on dried wheat turns pretty costly, so stupid question. Can you just feed the drier straight out of a semi then auger it out of the drier to the swing auger to fill the big bin?
Am I understanding your post correctly that you intend to dry seed wheat into the 18 ft, or also corn into the 48 ft? No wheat within 100 miles of me, that I know of, do you harvest it first? I would guess so, but like I said......
Makes it difficult to use the 18ft as a wet bin, plus you really should have a perforated floor and fan, nothing huge, just need air on wet corn if there's a chance of it being in there more than 12 hours, and it will happen.
I have Brock and GSI driers, but looked some at the Farm Fans years ago. IIRC, you can set them on kind of a batch program. I would think the moistures will be a little inconsistent, but not bad. Problem I see is the drier will only hold 420-520 bu, depending how low you empty it, so you will have to wait quite a while before you can leave with your truck, plus you are going to cut your daily throughput, maybe not an issue for you.
For your bushels a second 18 ft 3400 b gov't bin would work "okay". "Here" they are worth scrap price minus getting them there, that's it. I could even give you two right now. I would personally look for bigger, but it's your money, not mine.
Another option is something like this: https://www.bigiron.com/Lots/LowryPortable1000BushelWetHoldingBin I've seen them go cheap here also.
And then there's a third, maybe. What if you add second semi? Make the truck the holding bin. Build a box to fit on top of your main auger and just let the hopper empty as the drier calls for grain. With a little work and ingenuity a second hopper could be added to feed with a small auger. Have a friend you can work with on semi sharing? Just an idea.
