Bessent doesn't want to write tariff checks to the farmer. He wants to use you and your capital to negotiate with China. I'm not okay with this. If your actively manipulating my market then compensate me for it or deal with the political ramifications. I'm quite certain Nebraska will lose a Republican senator, Pete Ricketts, because of this. Pretty easy to vote out a guy like that in favor of an independent to send a message. Washington is pretty tone deaf on both sides of the isle and not recognizing how pissed regular people are, especially soybean farmers who have been lied to since October and help is always "next week, in a few weeks, as soon as the government re-opens" BS. I don't desperately need the payment because I was fortunate this year but I know many that do. And the bottom line here is that the government owes the farmer the money regardless. Otherwise, take the political blowback and tell the truth. Your screwing the American farmer and rural america because you can. Tell the truth or write the checks. Pick one
